Tomographic Joint Inversion of Direct Arrivals, Primaries and Multiples for Monochannel Marine Surveys

چکیده

Conventional multichannel surveys provide good images in 2D and 3D of the Earth depth, which are successfully used for oil gas industries. However, their cost environmental impact make them rarely affordable engineering applications, especially offshore infrastructures. In this case, monochannel systems, such as Boomers, having cables that a few-meters long, time-domain useful but miss relevant lithological information engineers, P-wave velocity shallow layers. paper, we present tomographic approach exploits multiple reflections, addition to primaries direct arrivals, work with short offset. It can detect lateral variations thickness first layer under sea floor. Two complementary algorithms compared: pure inversion, tuning exploiting classical Dix formula; one is more precise, while second robust respect noise. A two-step inversion incidence-angle parametrization performs slightly better than single-step algorithm based on traveltime inversion. We validate method by synthetic real data examples.

Least-squares joint imaging of multiples and primaries

Multiple reflections contain subsurface reflectivity information which often complements that found in primary reflections. Previous attempts to combine the additional information by summing prestack images of the primaries and multiples have generally failed because of crosstalk leakage between the images. We present a general linear least-squares inversion method, Least-Squares Joint Imaging ...

Least-squares joint imaging of primaries and multiples

Multiple reflections provide redundant, and sometimes additional, information about the corresponding primary reflections. I implement a least-squares inversion scheme to jointly image (by normal moveout) primaries and multiples, with the goal of enforcing consistency between the images and the input data. Furthermore, to effect noise (“crosstalk”) suppression, I introduce a novel form of model...

Least-squares joint imaging of primaries and pegleg multiples: 2-D field data test

In this paper I present an improved least-squares joint imaging algorithm for primary reflections and pegleg multiples (LSJIMP) which utilizes improved amplitude modeling and imaging operators presented in two companion papers in this report (Brown, 2003b,a). This algorithm is applied to the entire Mississippi Canyon 2-D multiples test dataset and demonstrates a good capability to separate pegl...

Imaging primaries and multiples simultaneously with depth-focusing

Seismic imaging amplitudes are extracted with the imaging conditions t = 0 and h = 0, where t = 0 means that the take-off time of the upward-coming wave is zero, and h = 0, with h the half-offset between the source and receiver position, means that the downwardgoing and upward-coming waves meet together during the wavefield extrapolation. However, h = 0 makes no sense for multiples imaging. Thi...
